Anime Worth Watching - Hunter X Hunter

Maxx Reyes, Reporter

Hunter X Hunter has the most intriguing storyline out of all of the shows I’ve watched. It starts off slow, but once you really get into it the story gets more interesting. A lot of the events that take place in the show are fighting, but we always have more to learn about the characters. Each character is diverse both mentally and physically. For example, Gon Freecss is one of the main characters. He is a very cheerful and genuine person. On the other hand, Killua Zoldyck is very adult-like and isn’t the most cheerful person.

The storyline is intriguing because of the events that happen, and how the writers lay them out. In the first two episodes, Gon, 12, aspires to become a hunter just like his father, a hunter is a person with exceptional skills. His father left when he was little because he also wanted to be a hunter. While taking the hunter exam Gon makes three new friends, their names are Kurapika, Leorio and Killua. In the end of the second episode, the three friends are doing part of the exam where they need to win a game of “trivia”. As you can see, the storyline is very intriguing, and this is just the first two episodes.

The characters each have different personalities. A quote from Gon is, “If you want to know someone, find out what makes them angry.” He is a very inspiring and non-serious character, while Killua said, “When I say it doesn’t hurt me, that means I can bear it.” He is a very serious and confident character. Gon and Killua are opposites and they are diverse, this is the same for all the other characters.

HxH got the most popular during quarantine since everyone didn’t have anything to do. You can stream HxH on Netflix, Hulu, and HBO max. Hunter X Hunter was released in 1999, but it didn’t start getting popular until 2011, because the newer version came out. There is an original version of it, but more people watch the new one since it goes with the manga better.
