Gilmore Girls is a show that aired from 2000 to 2007 and is available to watch now on Amazon Prime Video, Netflix. Vudu, and Google Play. It is about a mother, Loralei (Lauren Graham), who grew up in Hartford, Connecticut with her socialite parents, and her daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), who is growing up in the small town of Stars Hollow, CT.

The show starts when Rory is 16 and goes on until she is 22 and graduating from college. Throughout the show we watch all of the characters grow up and see their many ups and downs throughout relationships, breakups, bad grades, business opportunities, and more.

Personally, I am a big fan of Gilmore Girls, and I think you will be too if you love heartfelt comedies as much as I do. From Rory and Loralei’s sass to Sookie’s (Melissa McCarthy) ditziness to heartwarming mother-daughter moments, this show can bring a whirlwind of emotion.

This show can be watched on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video and can be bought on many other streaming platforms. Both of these streaming services offer a multitude of other movies and TV shows to watch, so spending money on subscribing to these may be worth it.

Gilmore Girls lasts seven seasons, with around 45-minute episodes. While it is a fairly long show, it pulls you into its drama and laughs, and the 45-minute long episodes are great to watch before bed or just during a relaxing day.

However, there are a few concerns that some have about the show. Since Gilmore Girls aired in the early 2000s, some of the comments that the characters make may not be considered politically correct now. For example, use of the r-slur, racial stereotypes, LGBTQ+ stereotypes, and fat-shaming among other things.

Overall, in my opinion, this show is a lovely depiction of a mother-daughter relationship and a sweet community. Despite some comments that are out-of-date, for the most part, this show can teach good lessons about love and happiness. Some may feel that Gilmore Girls is a bit cheesy and not enjoyable, but if you overlook the cheesiness, it is a great show.
