The Long Wait for Rick and Morty

After two long years without Rick and Morty, the contract dispute between Adult Swim and the creators has been solved. The creators are allowed 70 new episodes to make. Three weeks ago, we saw the first of the 70. There’s 3 episodes so far for season 4, and new ones drop every Sunday at 11:30 pm. So far, we know we’re getting 5 episodes in the following 5 weeks but season 4 will have 10 to 11 episodes total.

We also did not see new episodes for two years because the creators were known for repeatedly not getting their episode done on their deadline. Adult Swim didn’t know if they should allow this to re-air because they didn’t want fans getting mad about not getting the episode on time. The creators spoke to EW (entertainment weekly) about the wait and assured Adult Swim it’s the last time Rick and Morty will see something like this, “I think it’s safe to say, without fear of being wrong, that the gap between seasons 3 and 4 will be the longest and last time that it’s ever so long. It’s ridiculous.”

The creators are already working on writing season 5, as they produce the rest of season 4, and Entertainment Weekly added the creators said, “I don’t know how fast we can do it, but I know it will never be this long again.” People are asking if season 5 is being rushed a bit since season 4 isn’t finished the creators responded, “We want every episode to be good,” and added, “There are times we’re like, ‘Okay, this one will be the worst of the season,’ and we’re still compelled to do everything in our power to fix what we think is wrong with it.”
